Border Gavaskar Trophy

The Border Gavaskar Trophy gets its name from two legends of the game, India’s Sunil Gavaskar and Australia’s Allan Border. Over the past few years as India has stopped playing Pakistan in bilaterals, the series between the Indian cricket team and Australia has become one of the biggest rivalries in the sport. This IND vs AUS series will have an extra edge to it because India come into the Border Gavaskar Trophy smarting from the humbling series defeat to New Zealand at home. For the next two months between November 22 to January 7, 2025 the cricket world’s attention will be focussed on Australia as the two giants of cricket face off in Perth’s Optus Stadium (from November 22 to 26, 2024) for the first Test, then head to Adelaide (from December 6 to 10, 2024) for Test No 2, then Brisbane (from December 14 to 18, 2024) for the third Test, Melbourne (from December 26 to 30, 2024) for the Boxing Day Test before finally playing the fifth Test at Sydney in the new year (from January 3-7, 2025). Heading into the first Test in Perth, India are led by pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah because Rohit Sharma has skipped the game after the birth of his second child. Shubman Gill, meanwhile, is missing due to an injury while training. For Australia, Cameron Green also will not be available. Ahead of the first Test at Perth, the head-to-head record for India vs Australia matches, that were played in Australia, expectedly favoured the host nation with them winning 30 out of the 52 Tests played. India claimed nine victories while 13 games were drawn. Here are the full squads for both teams for the India vs Australia series: India Squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah(c), Mohammed Siraj, Sarfaraz Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar, Abhimanyu Easwaran.
