Factory output at three-month low on slow manufacturing, high base effect

Manufacturing, which accounts for 77.6 per cent of the weight of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), grew by 3.1 per cent in June as against 12.9 per cent in the year-ago period and 5.8 per cent in May.

Electricity output contracted 1.6 per cent in March as against 6.1 per cent growth last year. Capital goods output, which is indicative of investment demand, recorded growth of 8.1 per cent in March as against 2.4 per cent a year ago.
