JEE Advanced 2025

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), Advanced is the next step after JEE Main. Students who qualify JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, and can only then secure admission in a BTech (undergraduate level) course in the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). While JEE Main is conducted by NTA, JEE Advanced is expected to be conducted by IIT-Kanpur. JEE Advanced is held in June and the results are released within the 10 days.

While the absolute number of women admitted has gone up due to the rise in overall IIT intake, from 16,053 seats in 2020 to 18,168 in 2025, the proportion of women students has remained nearly flat.

The Anaivarukkum IITM (IIT Madras for All) is an initiative between the state government and the institute to encourage economically weaker sections in society to access higher education. It was launched by Stalin in April 2023.

According to sources, the council will focus on credit sharing among the 23 IITs within the National Credit Framework (NCrF) framework, along with establishing an intensive and outcome-oriented peer review process in IITs. The IITs presently don't follow the NCrF system.
