Fresh rules for babus to declare assets under Lokpal law yet to be notified: DoPT

As per rules notified under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, every public servant was required to file asset details under Section 44 on March 31 every year or on or before July 31.

Delhi High Court on Thursday said that Delhi already has the Delhi Lokayukta and Uplokayukta Act, 1995, and the central Act does not say that every state legislation has to be amended to bring it in line with the central Act.

The Act envisages establishment of the anti-graft body Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in states to look into cases of corruption against certain categories of public servants. As per the Lokpal Act, it is the sole prerogative of state government concerned to enact law in this regard.

The DoPT has already made it clear that there will be no extension in the last date of filing the returns.

The last date for filing such returns was April 30. It has now been extended till October 15, 2015.
