Punjab's Mandeep Singh first grabbed the spotlight after putting on a good performance for India in the Under-19 World Cup in 2010. Singh's consistent performance with the bat saw him becoming one of the top scorers of the competition for his side. After the World Cup stint, Singh found himself becoming a regular for his home state of Punjab in the domestic competitions. His impressive showing in Ranji competitions earned him a call in the IPL in 2010 when he was first bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. But his best performance came for Kings XI Punjab in 2012 after he became the highest run-getter for the franchise and also won the 'Rising Star of the tournament' award. In 70 IPL matches, he has scored 1,112 runs at an average of 20.22 at a strike rate of 120.87 in the first 10 seasons of the tournament.
