Data from the recently released NFHS-5, which was conducted in 2019-21, show that the proportion of men aged 15-49 years who have never consumed non-vegetarian food — listed as ‘fish, chicken or meat’ in the survey — stood at 16.6 per cent in 2019-21.

The highest proportion of overweight or obese women is found in Puducherry (46 per cent) followed by Chandigarh (44 per cent), Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab (41 per cent each), and Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (38 per cent each), according to the report.
NFHS-5: Half of households don’t seek govt health care

The survey report shows that the percentage of households that did not generally use a government health facility during 2019-21 was 49.9%, which is lower than the 55.1% recorded in the previous round of NFHS in 2015-16.
