The Nath Panthi Davari Gosavi community is one of over 40 nomadic tribes in Maharashtra, with an estimated population of 6-7 lakh. Most live a nomadic lifestyle, moving from place to place in search of livelihood. Today they are scared to venture out after five men from the tribe were lynched on July 1 by a mob in Dhule district, triggered by rumours that they were child-kidnappers.
