Police denies alleged reports of rape in Hisar

Hisar, Feb 25 (ANI): Haryana Director General of Police Yashpal Singhal on Thursday denied the presence of any evidence in the alleged rape incident during the recent quota protests in Hisar, Haryana. According to local media reports, women passengers were stopped on the national highway near Murthal in Haryana on early Monday morning and were dragged to the surrounding fields and raped. Further probe is underway.

The agitation disrupted major highways and rail traffic in large parts of the state after protestors took to the streets. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda sat on a fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi appealing to the protesting Jat Community to maintain law and order and call off the agitation. New Delhi, Feb 21 (ANI): Union Minister for State for Agriculture Sanjiv Baliyan on Sunday told the media that reservation to the Jat community would be given in the upcoming assembly session. In the wake of the escalating pro-reservation protests by the Jat community spreading across Haryana, the Home Minister on Sunday chaired a high-level emergency meeting to discuss the further course of action. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh and Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi were among those present at the meeting held at Rajanth's residence.

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Sunday questioned Home Minister Rajnath Singh's claim that event about Afzal Guru in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus had the support of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed. The CPI (M) politburo member further asserted that if the Home Minister managed to bring up any evidence of 'anti-national' or terrorist activity in the varsity, then the CPI (M) will support necessary action in national interest. Amid a massive faceoff over the JNU controversy, Singh earlier alleged that 'anti-national' protests in the JNU campus had the backing of the LeT chief Hafiz Saeed.
