Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is a leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), known for her strong and vocal presence. Born on November 29, 1967, in a small village in Uttar Pradesh, she has risen through the ranks to become an MP from Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh).
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's journey in politics began in her early years when she actively participated in various social and cultural activities. Her dedication to serving the people and her deep-rooted belief in the BJP's ideology led her to join the party. Over the years, she worked tirelessly to strengthen the party's presence in her home state of Uttar Pradesh, which has played a crucial role in the BJP's electoral success.
One of the defining moments in Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's political career came in 2014 when she was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Fatehpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. She was the Union Minister of State, Ministry of Food in Narendra Modi's first tenure as PM and she held the portfolio of Union Minister of State, Ministry of Rural Development from 2019 to 2021.
However, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Jyoti lost to Samajwadi Party's Naresh Uttam Patel by a small margin of around 30 thousand votes, marking her end of tenure in the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
Jyoti is known for her strong and unwavering commitment to the BJP's ideology of Hindutva, which emphasizes the preservation and promotion of Hindu culture.
While her tenure in politics has been marked by several achievements, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has also faced her fair share of controversies. In 2014, she made a controversial remark during a public rally, which drew criticism from various quarters. However, she later apologized for her words, and the incident did not significantly affect her political career.
