Udhampur/Mandi (Himachal Pradesh), Feb 22 (ANI): The last rites of Captain Tushar Mahajan, who was martyred while fighting the terrorists at Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, was performed with full military honours in Udhampur on Monday. Captain Mahajan was injured on Friday when he was leading a team to smoke-out the terrorists holed up inside a building near Srinagar. He succumbed to the injuries at 92 Base Hospital last evening. Meanwhile, last rites of Havaldar Raj Kumar Rana were performed by his daughter in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Pampore encounter enters day 3

Pampore, Feb 22 (ANI): The gunfight between security forces and terrorists underway in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, entered the third day on Monday with the death toll reaching to seven, including one terrorist. The terrorists are holed up inside the multi-storeyed government complex of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) on the Jammu- Srinagar National Highway. The entire area has been cordoned off as security forces are engaged heavily with the terrorists.

Protests in Srinagar over death of local youth

Srinagar, Jan 14 (ANI): The people of Srinagar's Peerbagh area staged a protest against the death of a local youth after the police recovered his body with his throat slit near the Railway Bridge this morning. As the news of the recovery of the youth's body spread in the area, the people came out on the streets wailing and beating their chests. The protestors also pelted stones at the policemen outside the police headquarters in Srinagar. The youth identified as Owais Bashir Malik, a resident of Peerbagh, was missing from January 12, 2016.

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to late Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at the Palam Airport (Delhi). Sayeed passed away today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was undergoing treatment for pneumonia. Mortal remains of Sayeed were brought to Palam Airport, from where they were taken to Srinagar for the last rites.
