Supriya Sule, born on June 30, 1969, is a Member of Parliament representing the Baramati constituency in Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Sharad Pawar, president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Growing up in a politically charged environment, she imbibed a deep understanding of public and political affairs from an early age. She completed her education in Economics from the Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce and went on to pursue an MBA from the University of Sydney, Australia. Sule entered into Parliament when she was first elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in 2006.
The Baramati constituency is the home turf of the Pawar family and has been represented by NCP chief Sharad Pawar, his nephew Ajit Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule in the Lok Sabha. Sule has won the seat in 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024.
In addition to her role as a parliamentarian, Supriya Sule has also held various positions within the NCP. She serves as the Deputy Leader of the NCP in the Lok Sabha and has played a crucial role in shaping the party's policies and strategies.
A section within the party considers Supriya to be the successor of veteran Sharad Pawar. However, after his uncle Ajit led the rebellion, leading to the bifurcation of the party, Sule's responsibility increased a lot as she not only had the job of leading the party of her father but also restoring their prominence back in the state's political landscape.
