Social activist Medha Patkar was on Friday cross-examined by the defence lawyer in the 2002 Sabarmati Ashram assault case. She was asked whether she had any agenda against political parties in the state. The lawyer, representing accused no 2 Amit Thakker, also asked Patkar about her days in Ahmedabad back in the 1990s when the Narmada Bachao Abhiyan was at its peak.

The NBA leader on Friday appeared before a metropolitan court in connection with the case regarding a mob attack on her, other social activists and journalists in April 2002 at a ashram where she was appealing for peace when the state was witnessing post-Godhra riots.

Thakker, BJP corporator Amit Shah, president of city-based NGO National Council for Civil Liberties V K Saxena, Congress leader Rohit Patel and some BJP workers are accused in the case. The court adjourned the matter till July 9.
