Police registered offences under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 380 (theft in dwelling house), 454 (house breaking), 457 (house breaking in night) and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed). The Hazira police were assisted by Ichhapore police, Dumas police and sleuths of the Surat Crime Branch, who jointly worked after recovering CCTV footage of two suspects from a house. Hazira police inspector G S Patel said, “We have arrested and recovered cash Rs 70,000 from them (the accused). The gang entered into the AM/NS township campus after finding a hole at a place in the compound wall. The stolen cash and jewellery were equally distributed among the accused. The jewellery they sold off is yet to be recovered. We are suspecting the involvement of a few others but further revelation will happen only after we interrogate them.”
“Over 20 security staff members are deployed in the company campus at one time and strict checking is done of people entering the campus,” Patel added.
