The two accused in police custodyTwo people were arrested by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) Tuesday for allegedly stabbing a man to death who had allegedly rebuked them over using cuss words in Ahmedabad, said an officer familiar with the matter.
According to a police statement, the accused, identified as Jaysinh alias Kaalu Harshad Solanki (19) and Chirag Keshav Vaghela (18), allegedly stabbed Vijay alias Vishal Shrimali to death Monday night.
The incident took place near the main gate of Karnavati apartment in Bapunagar, said the statement.
According to police, Solanki, Veghela along with a few others in their group were swearing at each other and joshing around when “Shrimali along with other members of his group rebuked them for swearing and asked them to stop”.
A heated argument ensued between Solanki and Shrimali subsequently leading to a physical fight between the two groups, said the statement.
During the fight, Solanki stabbed Shrimali in the chest, leading to his death. The other members of his group were also accused of assaulting people during the fight.
Based on a complaint from Priyeshkumar Poonamchand Vaccheta, who was a friend of the deceased and also admitted to hospital due to injuries, the Bapunagar Police filed an FIR, booking the accused Jaysinh Solanki, Harshad Solanki, Bhadresh alias Bunty Solanki, Himmat Solanki and Ganpat Solanki, under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 109 (attempt to murder), 115(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 189(2) (unlawful assembly).
The two accused, who were arrested within 2 hours of the crime, were handed over to Bapunagar Police. Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
