Anand rape case: Two sent to jail

Police said that on Sunday, the two girls went to the deserted premises of a local school, where the two accused allegedly arrived.

A court in Anand district on Tuesday sent two teenagers, both 18, to judicial custody in an alleged case of a 17-year-old’s rape. Another minor girl — who is the sister of one of the accused — has been sent to a reform home.

According to the police, the minor girl (also 17) had lured the survivor who was her friend to the spot where the two accused allegedly drugged the victim. Police said that on Sunday, the two girls went to the deserted premises of a local school, where the two accused allegedly arrived.

Anand deputy superintendent of police JN Panchal said, “One of the two accused gave the victim a spiked drink after consuming which she lost consciousness. The two accused dragged her away to a secluded spot…”
