Launching the annual school enrolment drive, Shala Praveshotsav, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Thursday called on teachers to create an environment in which students will get value-based education.
“There is need to create an environment wherein students get value-based education from the very beginning and wherein no bad idea can cross their mind,” Patel said. The CM was addressing a gathering of parents, teachers and students at Aranej village in Gir Somnath district after launching the 13th Shala Praveshotsav. She credited her predecessor Narendra Modi for promoting education for girl child and expressed hope that now that he has become PM, he would ensure education of girls across the country.

Patel dedicated to the public a school building in Arnej, and also inaugurated a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidylaya with hostel facility.
The CM welcomed 86 students who enrolled with the school and distributed kits among them. Later in the day, she presided over a similar function at Haripar village in neighbouring Junagadh district.
In another event, the CM distributed basic documents — such as BPL , ration and Aadhaar cards, and passbooks of the bank accounts opened under Jan-Dhan Yojana — to cattle-herders living in Gir forest to enable them to get benefits of the state and the central schemes.
