CISF takes over security

The Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the security of Diu’s historic airport to the Central Industrial Security Force on Thursday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the security of Diu’s historic airport to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Thursday. Diu Collector Krishan Kumar said the expense of CISF’s service will be borne by the Diu administration. Sixty-eight CISF personnel have been deployed in the UT and DIG Archna Tyagi Sharma has been given the charge of the security.

Currently, the airport operates only one commercial flight of Jet Airways from Mumbai via Porbandar daily. Kumar foresees the possibility of an increase in the number of non-scheduled or charted planes as Diu is emerging one of the favourite tourist destinations.
