Daskroi MLA Babu Jamnadas Patel said the polls could be held around Navratri, which begins on October 8. Going by this, the elections might be held nearly 15 days ahead of the scheduled date.

Also,a Congress member of the Ahmedabad district panchayat said that talks about holding early election were going on in the government. “The speed at which Garib Kalyan Melas are being lined up to meet the target of 300 melas in a month indicates that BJP wants to get the maximum benefit out of these welfare events across Gujarat. It will be in the interest of the ruling BJP if the poll notification is issued at the end of the Garib Kalyan Mela campaign,” said a district Congress leader.
