The road show by actor Salman Khan in support of Vadodara Congress candidate Satyajitsinh Gaekwad attracted both crowd and chaos here on Sunday, which resulted in damage to a Lord Krishna idol of a roadside temple.

Blaming Congress workers for the damage at the Uma crossroads,BJP Councillor Harshit Talati has now sought action against the actor as well as the local Congress candidate. He said he intended to file a complaint with the Panigate police station as also take up the matter with the Election Commission.

Expressing regret over the incident, the Congress hit back at the BJP,saying it might be a handiwork of workers from the saffron party. Vadodara Congress general secretary Sailesh Amin said the programme was video-taped by the Election Commission officials, which will make it clear as to who was responsible for the incident.

“The entire road show as well as the damage to the idol has been videotaped. It will make clear who was behind the incident and if it was accidental. We suspect it was done by the BJP workers; we regret the damage though,” he added.

Meanwhile,at Karelibaug, the Congressmen themselves got into a tussle, wanting to have Salman’s presence in the area. Though the actor visited the area,he did not step out of the vehicle as he was in a hurry to catch his flight, which left the workers disappointed. “Salman was getting late for his flight and suffered a sunstroke. So he pushed off without stepping out,” said Amin.
