As the quantum of sentences in the Godhra train burning case was announced,shutters went down in Polan Bazar locality.

The Panchmahals police said there were minor incidents of stone-pelting near the railway station but the situation was soon brought under control.

“Some miscreants made some inciting statements against both the communities near the railway station but policemen soon brought the situation under control,” said Panchmahals SP J R Mothaliya.

The district administration said all schools and colleges in Godhra town were asked to close for the day. “We don’t want to take any chances,so we asked schools and colleges to remain shut,” a senior district official said.

Shops in areas like Signal Faliya,Polan Bazar,Muslim Society,Limbdi Faliya and several other Muslim localities remained shut.

Muslim Ghanchee Samaj President Firdous Kothi said the community has full faith in the judicial processes even though it was not happy with the judgment of the special court. “We will knock the doors of the higher courts who will give us full justice,” Kothi said.
