An 84-year-old man and his wife were found murdered with their throats slit at their bungalow in Junagadh on Thursday night.

An 84-year-old man and his wife (76) were found murdered with their throats slit at their bungalow in Junagadh on Thursday night.

Police have ruled out robbery as the motive for the murders, saying that no valuable was found missing from the sprawling bungalow, which is located in posh Gandhigram society of the city.

“Chiman Sanghavi,a tax consultant, and Pravina (76) were found dead by their son Atul when he visited them around 8.30 pm,” said a police officer, adding that Atul lives in a separate house with his family.

Post-mortem revealed that the couple was attacked with some sharp weapon on their throats,he added.

According to the police, neighbours neither heard anything unusual nor saw any suspicious activity near the house last evening. The possibility of use of a professional killer cannot be ruled out, they said.

The police, meanwhile, have seized two wills prepared by the couple. Interestingly, the couple had named their only son Atul in their wills.

The police have found a pen from the scene of crime. “We don’t know whether the pen belonged to Sanghavi or the killer,” said the officer, adding that either Sanghavi was forced to sign something or he was writing something when the incident occurred.
