The Election Commission of India reviewed Gujarat’s voter list revision process for the 2027 polls, ensuring timely distribution of enumeration forms to over 5 crore voters. (File photo) A team led by the Director and Secretary of the Election Commission of India (ECI) visited Gujarat to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.
ECI Director Shubhra Saxena and Secretary Binod Kumar held a meeting in Gandhinagar to review the SIR process, which started from October 27.
Giving details of the progress of the SIR process, Chief Electoral Officer Hareet Shukla said as on October 27, as many as 5,08,43,436 voters were registered in Gujarat, all of whom will be given printed enumeration forms.
“So far, the enumeration forms of 5,03,83,022 voters have been printed, the work of printing the remaining forms is currently in progress. Out of the printed enumeration forms, 1,01,04,584 forms have been delivered to the voters, while remaining voters will be distributed the forms soon,” Shukla said in an official release Friday.
The District Election Officers and Municipal Commissioners of the state were guided by ECI officials on how the Voter Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers can reach out to all voters during the SIR.
Along with this, instructions were given to guide the voters on how to assist them in filling the form and take action so that voters do not face any difficulty in filling the forms.
ECI has appointed eight Municipal Commissioners of the state as Special Additional District Election Officers. All these Municipal Commissioners will also deploy their staff under them to help the voters.
In addition, a team of high-ranking ECI officials also reviewed the work being done under SIR by the Voter Registration Officer of Kalol Taluka of Gandhinagar district as well as the Booth Level Officers.
