GERC asks stakeholders for power tariff suggestions

Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has invited suggestions from various stakeholders,including consumers,in connection with the new power tariffs to be effective from April 1,2011.

Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has invited suggestions from various stakeholders,including consumers,in connection with the new power tariffs to be effective from April 1,2011. The tariff will be revised every year for the next five years depending on the expenses incurred by the transmission (transcos) and distribution (discoms) companies. The suggestions will have to be submitted to GERC by January 6,2011,the commission said in a release on Wednesday.

It added that the proposed regulations will ensure that consumers get power at reasonable price.

Titled multi-year tariff regulations-2010,GERC has restrained the transcos and discoms from increasing their profit beyond 14 per cent and also asked them to bring down their cost of generation and establishment.
