Noormohammed Ghoghari,an important witness to the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case,on Tuesday moved an application before the Ahmedabad Sessions Court to get a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) issued against him in the Popular Builder’s Firing Case cancelled. The court had issued the NBW against him following his regular absence from the court proceedings in the case.
According to Ghogharis lawyer,Soeb Bhahoria, the court allowed the application with a condition that he would face the court proceedings regularly.
Talking to The Indian Express Bhahoria said that following the revelations in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case,Ghoghari had got scared and so he had gone into a hiding in Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad district.
Bhahoria said that the Sessions Court is likely to commence trial of the Popular Builder’s Firing Case from Wednesday. Ghoghari is attributed the role of one of the conspirators in the case with a motive of extortion. In its chargesheet submitted before the Special CBI Court in July against the suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama and others CBI had stated that the firing on the Popular Builders was done by Sohrabuddin Sheikh at the behest of former Minister of State for Home Amit Shah,Abhay Chudasama,D G Vanzara and Rajkumar Pandian. And they allegedly got the firing done as a part of a larger conspiracy to create a criminal case against Sohrabuddin to justify his elimination at a later stage. In its interim report to Supreme Court, the CBI has demanded transfer of the Popular Builders Firing Case to itself.
