The CISF,which guards the world’s largest grassroots refinery run by the Reliance Industries Limited here, carried out a drill on Friday along with the state’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Marine Police. Air Force also conducted special surveillance in the area.

Besides Reliance,Essar too has its refinery in Jamnagar district. Both the refineries are located near the Arabian Sea and are thus considered to be vulnerable.

Proximity with Pakistan is said to be another reason why the facilities are heavy guarded. The RIL facility is the only private industrial unit in India that has a CISF cover. “We have received sketches of two of the five men that alert input said have entered Gujarat through Kutch,” said a top state official.
