A history-sheeter was beaten to death by neighbours allegedly for teasing a girl in Rajkot on Sunday night.

The Rajkot taluka police have launched a hunt for the six accused who have gone underground soon after the incident.

The New Thorala police said 27-year-old Altaf Datari,a resident of Bhavaninagar-II,was found dead with multiple injuries at Chunarwada-III.

The preliminary investigations revealed that he was clubbed to death by six youths of the same society.

Datari,an accused in a couple of loot,theft and assault cases,was released from the jail only four days ago.

Datari was in jail under the Prevention of Anti Social Activities Act.

Four of the six accused have been identified as Hitesh Koli,Ashwin Koli,Jitu Koli and Dinesh Koli. The two of them are yet to be identified.

The police said the deceased had allegedly teased Hitesh’s sister two days ago when she was passing from Aji riverbed.

The girl later informed her brother about the incident and he and his friends allegedly plotted to kill Datari.

The police said the six accused attacked Datari when he was alone at Aji riverbed around 8 pm on Sunday. After beating him there they dragged him to Chunarwada area and beat him again with wooden sticks.

“Datari had received several wounds all over his body. The wounds on his abdomen and neck probably proved fatal. The post-mortem report is awaited,” said a New Thorola police officer.

The police said Hitesh Koil and others have been in the past arrested in assault cases.
