I-T Dept seized assets worth Rs 45.45 crore in 2008-09

The Income Tax Department had seized assets worth Rs 45.45 crore and executed 422 warrants in Gujarat in the financial year 2008-09,a release from the office of Rajya Sabha member Parimal Nathwani said.

The figures were released by the Union Finance Ministry in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday in reply to an un-starred question by Nathwani.

According to the ministry,the amount of assets seized from Gujarat during the financial year 2006-07 was Rs 32.44 crore. The corresponding figure for 2007-08 was Rs 10.39 crore.

The reply said that during 2006-07 and 2007-08 the number of warrants executed by the I-T Department in Gujarat was 606 and 158 respectively.
