Man held for selling explosives in Dahod

The Dahod police arrested a person under the Explosives Act for selling explosives for the a National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme without valid licence,on Monday.

The Dahod police arrested a person under the Explosives Act for selling explosives for the a National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme without valid licence,on Monday.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) raided a house at Randhikpur village in Limkheda taluka and recovered 100 gelatin sticks and an equal number of detonators,the police said. One person managed to give the police the slip,they added.

The SOG said they have seized a compressor and a tractor belonging to the two men. The police are now interrogating Badri Prasad,who was arrested in the raid,to find out the source of the explosive.

Superintendent of Police Vipul Aggarwal said: “Most of the well-digging works under NREGS are not maintaining the account of the explosives being used. Some of the influential people are associated with the trade here. More raids are expected.” Till date,15 people in Dahod have been named in the illegal explosives cases.
