Leader of the Opposition at Rajkot Municipal Corporation Keyur Masrani has registered a court complaint against the municipal commissioner, his deputy and the town planning officer for allegedly allotting land to a trust run by the kin of a BJP councillor at throwaway prices.
The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate has accepted the complaint and ordered an inquiry under the provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc). Hearing is slated for June 26.
Masrani has alleged that Municipal Commissioner Ajay Bhadoo, his deputy P P Vyas and town planning officer Bakul Rupani allotted land to the Valmiki Mahila Vikas Sangh for pittance, incurring a loss of nearly Rs 3 crore to the RMC.
Instead of market rate, the land has been allotted at the stamp duty rate, he said, adding the RMCs move was cleared by the standing committee, where the BJP is in majority.
According to the Congress leader, relatives of BJP ward number 3 councillor Karsan Vaghela are trustees of the Sangh.
