The Dahod District Development Agency (DDA) has filed a police complaint against three NGOs for allegedly defrauding the agency of Rs 2 crore in the name of starting horticulture projects in the district.
In his complaint,assistant development officer of DDA,K L Chavda,alleged the three NGOs took funds from the government to supply,plant and raise horticulture plants on land of farmers for three years but supplied sub-standard plants and discontinued their maintenance.
In the complaint filed at Dahod taluka police station on Monday,the official has named 25 trustees and officials of three NGOs Gandhinagar-based Mahatma Gandhi Pratishthan and Samarpan Rural Development Foundation,and Samanvay Resource Centre,based at Devegadh Baria in Dahod district.
As per complaint,the NGOs were paid Rs 2 crore in 2005-06 for the project aimed at benefiting 4,000-odd farmers. Dahod taluka police sub-inspector K D Dindol said a probe is on.
