In an effort to create awareness among voters in Vadodara ahead of the civic polls on November 22, the district election officers will use social media and mobile messaging, which is expected to fill the void created by the absence of voter slips. District Election Officer Avantika Singh Aulakh has also ordered the setting up of a helpline number that will provide details of polling booths to voters.
The District election office, along with NGOs and educational institutions, will undertake a massive voter awareness campaign from November 16, after the Diwali break. Aulakh held a meeting with various organisations that volunteered to help create voter awareness for the civic and local body polls between November 16 and 22.
Given the Diwali festivities, political parties had expressed anxiety over the inability to have voter slips printed and distributed to voters.

This is because the last date for withdrawing candidate nominations was November 10. Aulakh has already directed the message of voting to be spread across the city.
Additionally, a toll free number will be set up across the 12 administrative wards of the VMC that will provide information to voters regarding the new polling booths.
In addition to the toll free number 1800-233-0265, a 24-hour control room, 0265-2427592 is also functional in the district election office to extend help to voters seeking information regarding the upcoming voting day.
