Vadodara finds place in Guinness Records for longest canvas painting

The city has officially entered the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world’s longest painting.

The city has officially entered the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world’s longest painting. The mega event was organised by the Vadodara Marathon Company on October 2 where students had made a 4.33 km long canvas painting on the theme of traffic.

The Guinness Book of World Records has declared that the painting has broken world records in 10 subcategories. These include that of the Longest Painting,Longest Painting on Canvas,Longest Painting on Canvas by Numbers,Longest Painting in Shortest Time,Longest Canvas Painting in Shortest Time,Longest Piece of Art,Longest Acrylic Painting,Longest Acrylic Painting by Numbers,Longest Painting on Traffic and the Longest Theme Painting.

The event saw the participation of over 8,130 students from various city schools,schools for differently-abled children,schools run by the municipal corporation,the Faculty of Fine Arts,M S University and the Police Training School. The painting was completed in six hours.

Tejal Amin,Chairman of the Vadodara Marathon Company said: “We are extremely enthused by winning the world record and we now want to translate the energy into the upcoming marathon. We hope to break Mumbai’s record of 32,000 participants in the Marathon race.”
