Zakia Jafris lawyer told the court on Friday that the SIT was obsessed with proving IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt and retired DGP RB Sreekumar wrong than examining other evidence. Terming the reports of the National Human Rights Commissions as crucial to trying the CM and the other accused,the widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri,killed in the 2002 post-Godhra riots,alleged that the SC-appointed Special Investigation Team had ignored the findings of the commission.
Today,we have institutions like the NHRC,Chief Election Commission and SC which were not as active or did not exist during the partition and then during the 1984 riots. But does that mean we dont consider them today? Jafris lawyer Mihir Desai argued.
Ugandan delegates meet NDDB chairman The representatives of the government of Uganda met the chairman of the National Dairy Development Board Amrita Patel to discuss the possibility of using the NDDBs expertise in organising dairy cooperatives there. The delegates included Katureebe Koburungi Mary Bernadette,chairperson,Dairy Development Authority of Ugandan government.
