Bengaluru techie tries to stop fight between parents, dies after father stabs him

A 24-year-old software engineer died after his father accidentally stabbed him when he tried to pacify a fight between his parents in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Yashwanth B, a software engineer in a private company in Sarjapur and a resident of Puttenahalli. His father Basavaraj was arrested.

The incident took place around 10 am on Wednesday when Basavaraj and his wife were fighting over some domestic issue. A police officer said, “The verbal altercation turned physical and then Basavaraj fetched a knife, threatening to kill her. Yashwanth intervened to stop but in the melee, Basavaraj stabbed his son.”

Yashwanth was rushed to the Dayananda Sagar hospital where the doctors declared that he was brought dead. The hospital authorities informed the police and a case was registered against Basavaraj under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident unfolded at around 10 am on Wednesday at their house. Basavaraj and his wife were involved in a scuffle over a trivial issue. The man allegedly fetched a knife and threatened to kill her.

A police officer said, “Basavaraj and his wife used to have frequent fights over trivial issues and mostly over taking care of Basavaraj’s mother. The Forensic Science Laboratory visited the spot and collected samples.”
