11-member SIT to probe Karnal murder

Haryana Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team,to investigate the murder of Karam Singh,former sarpanch of village Kambopura,Karnal district.

Haryana Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team,to investigate the murder of Karam Singh,former sarpanch of village Kambopura,Karnal district. The team shall be headed by a Superintendent of Police-level officer,Rajender Kumar,who is presently posted as SP,Crime Branch,Madhuban.

Karam Singh had levelled serious allegations of corruption against former Chief Parliamentary Secretary to Haryana government,Zile Ram Sharma,in a complaint sent to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda,on June 6. A day later,when Karam Singh allegedly went to meet Zile Ram at his residence in Karnal,he never returned home. He was allegedly intoxicated to death. Karam Singh’s son Rajinder,in his complaint to the police,which was converted into an FIR registered on charges of murder,had alleged that Zile Ram Sharma and former Transport Minister OP Jain were harassing his father when he demanded his money back from them and both got him murdered. Both Jain and Sharma,after getting involved in the controversy,were asked by the Haryana Chief Minister to resign.

“We are yet investigating the matter. The staff of Zile Ram is being questioned and various angles are being probed”,said one of the members of the SIT.
