An erroneous scheduling of two different murder cases eventuated into loss of precious court time on Wednesday as the cases, involving the same three accused, came up for hearing in two different courts on the same day.

The hearings pertain to the sensational murders of Anuradha Sandhu and her help,Sunil, that had rocked the city last year.

While the Anuradha murder case came up for hearing in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge S K Aggarwal, the Ropar Court was scheduled to take up the case of Sunil’s murder.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge S K Aggarwal was kept waiting for the two accused servants — Ashok and Nikku — to appear in the case while the main accused,Baljinder Singh alias Talla, was produced here.

On the other hand, the Ropar district court was kept waiting for the main accused,Talla, even as the two servants were produced in the court there.

Both the cases have been adjourned with the Anuradha-murder case to come up for hearing next on February 27.

Anuradha was found murdered on the intervening night of May 17 and 18 last year at her residence in Sector 38 West.

Her servant Sunil was also found dead after a few days and the separate cases of murder registered for the two cases had named the same three — Baljinder Singh alias Talla,Vijay Pal and Ashok — as the accused.

Earlier, all the three accused were lodged in the Ropar jail where they were produced in the court at Ropar and also in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh Police, however, registered another case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the IPC against Talla when the prosecution witness and brother -in-law of Talla,Harish, deposed that the accused attempted to kill him.

The Chandigarh Police then moved the court of JMIC P K Lal for retaining Baljinder Singh alias Talla in Burail jail as more cases were registered against him in Chandigarh.

While Talla opposed the request on grounds that the other two accused were detained at Ropar, the order for his detention in the Chandigarh jail was eventually passed.
