3 new awards instituted at RMS,Chail

The 86th annual day function of the Rashtriya Military School,Chail,was held on Saturday with Major General C Prakesh,General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Punjab,Haryana and Himachal Pradesh sub area,who is also Chairman of Local Board of Administration (LBA),presiding over the function and also distributing prizes to the outstanding students and teachers.

Three new awards were were instituted on the occasion and were given away by Major General Prakesh to Dr M Ponnuraj (Master Gazetted) in the best teacher category for senior secondary division,B R Sharma (Master Gazetted) in secondary category and Ravi Kumar as best student.

Taxila House was declared as All Round Best House and Nalanda House was declared as the runners-up.

The annual day celebrations were held at Salaria Auditorium,named after Capt Gurubachan Singh Salaria PVC (Posthumous) – an ex-student of the school who laid down his life for the nation in Africa.

In his Annual Report,Maj S Dhar,principal of the school,spoke at length on the achievements of the school in the field of academics,sports and games.

A captivating cultural programme was organised by the students of the school. Rashtriya Military School,Chail,is one of the oldest military schools in Asia.
