31-yr-old dies of swine flu

A 31-year-old man,a resident of Jubbal Kotkhai area of Shimla district,died of swine flu at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital on Monday.

A 31-year-old man,a resident of Jubbal Kotkhai area of Shimla district,died of swine flu at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) on Monday.

He had been admitted to the hospital in the morning.

This is the 15th death due to swine flu in the state. Of the 103 samples taken so far,41 samples have tested positive,according to the records of the state heath department.

A 34-year-old woman from Rohru has also tested positive for the H1N1 virus. The woman has been admitted to the isolation ward of IGMCH.

Dr Vinod Mehta,surveillance officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme,said: “A special team of doctors has been sent to the two villages in Jubbal Kotkhai and Rohru,in order to check if any one else is showing symptoms.”
