If there’s a date to love (apart from Valentine’s Day),it’s here. 11/11/11,which references the Roman goddess of love and beauty,Venus,has sent millions across the globe making big plans for Friday. Nobody wants to let this day slip by without a special treat. “All the digits of the date add up to the number six ,which stands for the planet Venus; this makes the day auspicious for marriage and relationships,” says Sandhya Singh,a Delhi-based numerologist and tarot card reader.

Young couples are,of course,taking this day very seriously. With 11/11/11 prophecised as an auspicious date,around 3,000 weddings are scheduled in the Tricity. As a result,community centres,parks,hotels and banquet halls across the town have been booked in advance. The buzz created by city numerologists and astrologers is that weddings performed on this date will last longer. “November 11 is a great mahurat for weddings. That is why around 3,000 weddings will take place in the Tricity on this date. It’s the rarity factor of such dates that is a pull,” says city-based astrologer,numerologist and author Madan Gupta Spatu.

Tejbans Singh Jauhar of Tejee Photo Studios in Sector17 says,“The date is extremely auspicious,so I have a packed schedule ahead.”

Other loves are also being celebrated. Rebellious rock-stud Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film Rockstar will open on this day,to make the most of the date-month-year combination. Another filmmaker Vikas Chandra has set his sights a notch higher — his pet project,Project 11,will premiere online worldwide on 11/11/11 exactly at 11.11 am. Super K,a 3D CGI animation film,produced by Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd will also premiere on the same day. And,the grapevine is buzzing with rumours that Aishwarya-Abhishek’s sprog,Baby B,too is set to make an appearance on this day.

The BMW 6 series has chosen this day for its big launch,with an exhibition of artwork titled “One Hundred Thousand” at Delhi’s Hyatt Regency . “The date signifies energy and growth and that’s why we have brought in up and coming artists from around the country to present their works,” says Nitin Mehta,organiser of the exhibition,adding that the artwork are priced at Rs 1 lakh.

But astrologer,Prem Kumar Sharma,adds that astrologically,this day is not auspicious for marriages. Hence,most youngsters in Delhi are avoiding this date to tie the knot,say wedding planners. In giddy-headed Las Vegas in the US,however,things are different. Nightlife queen Tiffany Masters is throwing what she claims will be “the world’s biggest wedding reception party” to any couple walking down the aisle in Las Vegas.

Of course,you might scoff and say,“it’s just another day”,but you might be the only one.
