Arunima walks away with chess title

Arunima Goyal garnered three points to leave behind her sister Tarini Goyal (three points) and Shweta (two points) who finished second and third respectively,and bagged the top spot on the final day of the Chandigarh Women’s Chess Championship held at St Xavier's School,Sector 44,Chandigarh,on Sunday.

Arunima Goyal garnered three points to leave behind her sister Tarini Goyal (three points) and Shweta (two points) who finished second and third respectively,and bagged the top spot on the final day of the Chandigarh Women’s Chess Championship held at St Xavier’s School,Sector 44,Chandigarh,on Sunday. Arunima was in blazing form as she grabbed three out of three points. Meanwhile,Kashish Kaushal of Sacred Heart School got the fourth position. The championship was organised by the Chandigarh Chess Association. The first four position holders during the championship have been selected to represent Chandigarh at the forthcoming National Women Challengers Chess Championship to be held at West Bengal from August 25 to September 5.

Point position at the end of the third and final round:

3 Points: Arunima Goyal,Tarini Goyal,2 Point: Shweta,1.5 Points: Kashish,1 Point: Arshjot Kaur,Inayat,Mitali Saini,Surbhi Singh,0.5 Points: Khushboo.
