Watch the promo,and it becomes apparent that Dabbas and Inc. have given it their best shot. Armed with a high energy wrestling sequence,some leg-breaking and back-cracking fights and colourful dialogues straight from the heartland,Dabas believes Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande will work for him,because “we are in the open phase of Indian cinema where everything works,” he says.

Apart from Anupam Kher and Sharad Saxena,the movie has no solid star to boast of,but it is racy and rustic enough to generate a buzz. Set in Haryana’s Jatland,it’s the story of a ‘badmaash’ gang of four,with all characters inspired from Dabas’s real life friends.

With its rural landscape and urban treatment,Dabbas,who was in town for film’s promotion,called it a mass multiplex film which will cut across all “big city-small town” cliches. And what makes him so sure? “I showed the film to the drivers and spot boys at the set,for whom cinema is about entertainment. If they were entertained,it means I’ve done my job well,” he says.

With a bunch of theatre actors — Vansh Bhardwaj,Kuldip Ruhil and Ashish Nayyar – playing quirky characters called Sexy,Doctor and Ambani respectively,and background score by Siddharth-Suhas that’s based on folk,Dabas may be right after all.

All we know is that Kher plays a scheming businessman while Kiran Juneja Sippy is a raging chief minister. So,is the film about corruption,water? “Singham handled corruption,this is different: fresh and gripping,” Dabas says.
