The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Industries Association has demanded speedy restoration of the bridges damaged due to heavy rains earlier this week on the National Highway 21-A that connects the industrial township with the rest of the state.

In a letter to the Public Works Department (PWD),the association has also demanded the government to make provision for alternate route through the dry river bed.

Executive officer,BBN Industries Association,Keshav Chandel said,“Beside the Bag Banian bridge,Baddi Barrier Balad Bridge was also damaged during the heavy rains on June 7 and June 8. Provision should be made to repair the bridge at the earliest and also a pucca passage should be built through the riverbed till this bridge is repaired.”

The damage on the bridge has slowed down the traffic flow and increased chaos, for which help from the police has been sought.

Principal Secretary,PWD,P C Kapoor told The Indian Express,“We have already given an alternate route through the river bed. The reason behind the collapse of the Bag Banian bridge is excessive mining along the foundation of the bridge on the river bed. We are keeping an eye on the sensitive points on this route.”

He said soon work on the detailed project report to widen and upgrade the Pinjore-Nalagarh road and Nalagarh to Swarghat stretch would begin.
