‘BJP does not understand the term, development’

“Development has taken place in all spheres under the Congress. Victory is imminent for us,” said Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a press conference on Friday.

“Development has taken place in all spheres under the Congress. Victory is imminent for us,” said Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a press conference on Friday.

Casting doubts on rival candidate Satya Pal Jain’s understanding of the term “development project”,Bansal said his counterpart appears to have turned a blind eye to the projects at the railway station and the international airport in the city.

“From a mere Rs 200 crore in the last five year plan, the funds have been increased to Rs 625 crore,a part of which has already been utilised in development projects,” Bansal said, adding that a sum of Rs 84 crore has also been sanctioned.

Citing the example of Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,Bansal alleged the BJP and BSP candidates are claiming credit for the project.

Refuting Jain’s claim of being the only candidate to have utilised his MPLAD funds,Bansal said it was a blatant lie and counter-alleged that Jain’s funds remain unutilised.

On allegations of his trying to evade public debates,Bansal said his itinerary is fixed days in advance and it is difficult to reschedule the same.

Taking a dig at opposition parties,Bansal said the BJP is getting agitated due to its impending defeat and is,therefore, levelling allegations against the Congress.
