BJP questions delay in action in booth allotment scam

The party leaders further stated that the Congress was scared of the success of BJP’s Janjagran Abhiyan creating awareness about corruption and mal-administration by the Congress.

Addressing a press conference today,the president of the city unit of BJP,Sanjay Tandon said that they have been demanding that the report on the booth allotment scam be made public. “We had met the Administrator and a CBI inquiry was demanded into the issue. The files pertaining to the issue had gone missing need to be found out. However,instead of any action being taken,the report is moving from one official to the other,” he said.

Referring to the comment by the Congress that BJP’s Janjagran Abhiyan was a drama,Tandon said that if going to people was a drama then the Congress General Secretary (Rahul Gandhi) should be asked to stop first.

Tandon further said that the Congress leaders in the city keep saying that they do not have powers even to get a peon transferred. If this is the case,he said,then they should resign. He added that it was because of this attitude that they have not been able to get along with any official in the city.

Satya Pal Jain,former MP and incharge of the Legal and Legislative Cell of BJP said that after complaining against former Administrator Gen S F Rodrigues (Retd) it seems that the Congress is not getting along with the current Administrator Shivraj Patil. He said the party was ready for a debate on booth allotment scam.

Jain further demanded that the government bring in a Bill against black money in the Monsoon session of Parliament. Jain also demanded that a strong Lokpal Bill be introduced and the Prime Minister included in its ambit. He said that the Congress government in Haryana should prepare a white paper on how much land it released after giving notices for Section 4 and 6. He alleged that the land was released after it was acquired by private builders at low rates.

Former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan said there was a high inflation rate due to wrong policies of the government. He said the prices of fuel and other essential commodities have sky rocketed,while household income has not. He demanded that UT Administration should reduce the tax on fuel to give relief to the residents.
