Book on Kangra paintings released

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal released the first-ever book tracing the history,expansion and other aspects of the famous Kangra paintings,titled ‘Kangra Ki Chitrankan Parampara’,authored by renowned painter and art critic Vijay Kumar Sharma,here on Monday. Vijay Kumar comes from Chamba district of the state. “The book will be of immense use to art lovers and crucial for promoting the Kangra painting at national and international levels. This first-ever publication on Kangra paintings brought out in Hindi language will enhance knowledge of all Hindi-reading art lovers,” said Dhumal. Noted litterateur and former bureaucrat Dr S.N Joshi and Secretary,Art,Language and Culture Academy,Tulsi Raman,too,spoke on the occasion. Principal Secretary,Language and Culture,Manisha Nanda,was also present.
