High court pays tribute to former Himachal CJ

At a full court reference held at the Himachal Pradesh High Court,rich tributes were paid to former state Chief Justice P C Balakrishna Menon,who passed away on September 2 in Kochi. Menon has served as the state Lokayukta in Himachal and Kerala,besides being the chairman of the Human Rights Commission here. Born in 1929,Menon was enrolled as an advocate in Madras High Court in 1953. An expert in constitutional and taxation cases,he shifted his practice to Kochi and was later appointed the additional judge of the Kerala High Court in 1980 and a permanent judge in 1982. He was appointed the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court in 1989,a post from which he retired in 1991. He was made the Lokayukta in 1994.
