Candidates line up for Cong tickets for civic body polls

Candidates have been asked to fill in the wards of their preference as well as why they should be given the ticket,apart from other personal details.

More than 100 forms have been procured by prospective candidates in the Congress for the elections to the Municipal Corporation. Party workers and leaders interested in contesting the election are required to fill a form and submit it with the party for consideration.

The forms will be scrutinised and senior leaders of the party will take a decision after which an announcement about the possible candidates will be made. Some candidates have procured multiple forms for the same ward,while others have taken them for different wards. Candidates are to be announced for 26 wards in the city. The last date for submission is November 4.

Meanwhile,some BJP workers are staking claim to be given tickets for contesting. L K Khurana,president of Lions Welfare Society went to the BJP office,on Monday,to submit request for his candidature.
