Census second phase begins in Mohali

Work on the second phase of the ongoing census operations for 2011 got underway in Mohali.

Work on the second phase of the ongoing census operations for 2011 got underway in Mohali on Wednesday. The operation began from the house of senior IAS officer B S Sudan,who is Punjab Secretary (Personnel & General Administration) and lives here.

A team of census enumerators and supervisors,led by Deputy Commissioner Parveen Kumar and comprising ADC Mohinder Singh Kainth,SDM Amit Talwar and Additional District Census Officer Amarjeet Kaur,asked Sudan a set of 29 questions,who answered all of them to make them part of the census data.

The DC said that the second phase of the census operations would concluded on February 28. Till then,the enumerators will visit every house in the district and ask the set of 29 questions.

The revision round will be held from March 1 to 5. He appealed to the district residents to cooperate and support the census officials to ensure the successful completion of the operations.

On Day One,Punjab CS enumerated

On the first day of the Population Enumeration of Census 2011,Punjab Chief Secretary S C Agrawal was enumerated at his residence by the team headed by Census Director (Chandigarh) T N Bindhyeshwari. She was accompanied by Census Director (Punjab) Seema Jain.

The Chief Secretary was asked 29 questions about his household. The census directors presented the Chief Secretary mementos and other Census material. He assured his full cooperation for the success of this national task in Chandigarh and also expressed anxiety about the falling sex ratio in a highly educated city.
