Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA),Sector 12,organised an inter-college design competition as part of the events being held to mark its golden jubilee. Students of various architecture colleges from all across the nation sent in their entries.
The students of various architecture colleges were supposed to prepare designs for eco-friendly primary school especially for the girl child. A site has been decided by the Nabha foundation where the school is to be located. The site provides an area of 60,000 square feet for the primary school.

Prof Rajeev Mishra,principal of JJ College of Architecture,Mumbai is one of the jury members. While talking to Newsline ,he said,The idea to have such a competition was floated to sensitise the students of architecture across the nation to make Eco-friendly building keeping in mind the disturbances in the climate.
The students while conceptualising there idea were not allowed to tamper the existing ecology of the place. The participants also have to demonstrate the knowledge of the materials and methods that are to be used for making a sustainable structure.
Another jury member,Architect Siddharth Vig said that the concepts that they have received till now will be put to implementation in the next level. Dr Vasudha Gokhle,from BNCA,Pune,said,The designs that we have received are very innovative. Now we have to find a parameter to shortlist the candidates.
The second stage of the competition will be held on July 15 and 16.
