A combined effort from their bowlers Abhilash Sharma (3 for 29) and Vineet Dhaka (2 for 18) put hosts Chandigarh in the driver’s seat against Jalandhar on the first day of a match in the Punjab State Inter-District U-19 Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy played at DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8. After restricting Jalandhar to a first innings total of 152 runs,Chandigarh were 101 for 3 at the end of the day’s play.
Batting first,Jalandhar openers Rajat Sharma and Mansal Gill put on 21 runs in eight overs. Thereafter,Bhupinder Singh played a sensible knock of 34 off 92 balls to steady the Jalandhar innings. Vaibhav Sharma contributed 23 runs. However,their dismissal announced the collapse of Jalandhar batting as the team was bundled out for 152 runs in 61.1 overs.
At the end of the day’s play,Chandigarh were 101 for 3 in 31 overs. Openers Jaskaranveer Singh (44) and Shivam Bhambri (52) were associated in a 96-run partnership for the first wicket.

Sunny Pandeys superb century (103 off 231 balls) put hosts Ludhiana in a strong position against Mohali as they were 266 for 6 in 97 overs at the end of the day’s play. Opener Pandey was first associated in a 43-run stand for the first wicket with Namit Malhan and then 95 runs for the second wicket with Nikhil Chaudhary. Chaudhary departed after contributing 56 runs. At the end of the day’s play,Chirag Maria was unbeaten on 34 runs while Khushvinder Singh was batting on 19 runs.
